Each time you use UNDERGROUND and enter your correct Master Password a new set of Advanced Security Keys (ASK) is created. Each Advanced Security Key is created at random and has virtually an infinite number of combinations. In addition UNDERGROUND uses not one, but a set of Advanced Security Keys. UNDERGROUND uses these keys to encrypt and decrypt your messages, and when you log out the Advanced Security Keys are destroyed causing all ASK details to be lost forever. Your PC does not store the ASK. See: UNDERGROUND technology. Creating a key exactly the same twice is virtually impossible. Creating all of the keys exactly the same twice is statistically impossible.

An ordinary door key has a limited number of combinations. You can imagine that it will be almost impossible to make a copy of such a key if you do not know the exact details. An Advanced Security Key has virtually an infinite number of combinations. It IS impossible to create a set of correct Advanced Security Keys if you do not know the exact details.

How secure is UNDERGROUND and what can others do to read your messages?

UNDERGROUND
security while you are communicating:

  1. They may tap your line
  2. They may monitor and record your data stream
  3. There may be a man in the middle attack, e.g. your Telecom Provider
  4. You may tell them your login name
  5. You may tell them where you are
  6. You may tell them who you are communicating with
  7. You may tell them that you are using UNDERGROUND
  8. They may know exactly how UNDERGROUND works
  9.  You may give them a copy of your UNDERGROUND USB Stick

As long as they do not have your Master Password it is impossible to read any of your messages while you are logged in.

UNDERGROUND security when you are finished communicating and logged out:

  1. They may have recorded your communication
  2. You may tell them who you have communicated with
  3. You may tell them what you where talking about
  4. You may tell them that you have used UNDERGROUND
  5. They may know exactly how UNDERGROUND works
  6. They may confiscate your PC and investigate it in a laboratory
  7. They may seize your UNDERGROUND USB Stick
  8. You may even tell them your Master Password.
It does not make the slightest bit of difference. Once logged out there is no way to retrieve your old messages. If you logged out, even your own UNDERGROUND software is not able to decrypt its previous messages.

Please note: UNDERGROUND is a legal software product. However in some countries it may be illegal to use UNDERGROUND because of its advanced encryption technology.
You are advised not to use UNDERGROUND in these countries.
